This past weekend we had a visit from Grammy and Pop Pop. We went to a place called the Wild Oak Ranch just outside of San Antonio. It was more of a resort and had a lazy river that we could float down. We all had a very nice time. Maya received a toy, Buzz Lightyear (Ba Ligh Yer) from her Uncle Jeffery and Aunt Beverly. It has won her heart and she plays with it constantly. It plays several little recorded sentences and we were all sick of it by the time Sunday rolled around… but she was so happy with it.
We finished the weekend off in Sea World both girls rode their first roller coasters. Maya’s was a log flume and she did very well and was brave. McKenna loved them all.

Maya has been a little terror the last 2 days. She is even worse at going to sleep lately and every night it takes her at least 45 mins to settle down. Her routine is to get out of bed and go to the door and call for us underneath it. Tonight she was doing a fake cry as loud as she could and when that didn’t work she said “Mommy…. Daddy Im cwying” What got me to go in there was that I thought I heard her in the back of her room say “Daddy… I am stuck”. So of course I went in to check it out. Once in the room I understood her better and realize she was saying ” I need my Stunk” which meant she needed her little stuffed skunk. Here are photos from Maya’s Party.

Maya 3rd Birthday Party

We through a disco themed birthday party at the house on Sunday night. It was absolute bedlam but everyone had a good time. I managed to catch some footage of Maya dancing by herself in the video below by luck. The rest of the time the room was packed with kids. Carrie made egg-free cake and we served pizza. Below are some videos we will post pictures later in the week.
Maya’s second dance class did not go as well as she was grumpy and tired.

Carrie took the girls to a San Antonio based resort on Thursday. School was closed so Carrie took two days off and decided to take the girls for a little mini vacation. They went to the San Antonio zoo and then to the pool at the resort. I joined them around dinner time and by the time I arrived they looked like they could have fallen asleep. It didn’t matter they kept on going. We ate dinner and then roasted marsh mellows and made smores and watched part of a movie that was playing at an outdoor theater. When McKenna hit the pillow she was out in seconds… Maya on the other hand was wide awake. Carrie and I probably fell asleep before she did.

This weekend we went to the Cuellars’ pool and McKenna swam better than she has before. Practically the whole width of the pool with Carrie watching. She is very proud of herself as she should be. She still needs some confidence but she is making great progress. The Kleemans and their two girls came over for dinner on Sunday night. I smoke some turkey and the kids destroyed the house.

Today was a huge day for Maya her first day of dance class. She loves to dance of course and in fact we are throwing a dance party for her birthday. Maya was soo excited and cried when McKenna got to go in first. She was a natural. We have never witnessed her so focused. Here is a short video of her doing tap in her first class:

Today when I got home from work I heard noises in the girls bathroom of them playing. I peeked around the corner to see McKenna putting a backpack on her sister. Carrie was in the laundry room and I asked her if she saw what was going on in there and she said they are going on trips and they have been doing that for a long time. So I returned to the bathroom and noticed that they also had McKenna’s suitcase out and were pulling it around as well. I asked them what they are doing and they said, “Going to Grammy & Pop Pops”. I was then asked to fly the plane that happened to be the tub. With all of the flying I have been doing it was easy to act out. We had a blast.

This morning McKenna got up at the crack of dawn 6A. She normally gets up after 7 so this was out of the ordinary. She didn’t seem tired and wanted to play games on my phone. I allowed her to do it so I could drink my coffee.
I got her a bowl of cereal and apparently it was not good enough. She finished her cereal and looked at me and said… “This is not my breakfast!” I said “Oh?… would you like something else?” She replied “Yes.. I would like some scrambled eggs with cheese please.”
For her third course she had raisins and a cheese stick and still wanted more.

Maya has been getting unexplained hives all over her body. We are at a loss as to what is causing it.. our guess is our laundry detergent. She has no trouble breathing or anything however. Hopefully we will get to the bottom of it soon.

Fun Family Weekend

This weekend we spent together as a family. The first in a while. Saturday we went to an orchard out near Fredericksburg where we picked Strawberries, Blackberries and Peaches. It was hot but fun. From there we went to lunch and then on to a famous place called Lukenbock where we watched some music and tried on some hats. We finished the day off with a stop at Becker Vineyards and home to our new baby pool. Yesterday we spent some time at our normal pool and went on a bike ride.

At Long Last

At long last I am able to write a post. Things have been hectic at work and at home for me and it has been hard for me to find the time and the energy to write. Never the less here is a new post filled with pictures and videos for your enjoyment.
Our weekend went by in a flash. Saturday morning we got up early and went to the girls school for parent teacher conferences and to help garden the grounds of the school. It ended up being a lot of work for me as I was the lone male there. I dug a pit for a tree and dug out a merry go round that wouldn’t spin. Both girls helped a decent amount planting small flowers and enjoyed being at school with Mommy and Daddy.

From school we went straight to the HOA Easter Egg Hunt. As usual the girls had a blast. Both of them did really well this year and scored a serious plastic egg bounty. McKenna especially dominated her group.

The rest of our day was spent in the yard cleaning up our flower beds. McKenna reenacted her egg hunting experience and the two of them found many ways to enjoy themselves.

Today we went to the Botanical Garden for a the annual garden festival. Not that much fun for Daddy…. but Mommy and the girls had a really nice time.
