Big Girl Bed

It turned out that Maya had walking Pneumonia last week. I had to stay home with her on Friday and work from home. She was thrilled and other than the occasional cough you wouldn’t have known she was in such bad shape. By Monday she was well enough to return to school.

This weekend we started the process of re-doing Maya’s room. We will be painting it again (this will be the fourth time I have painted this room since we moved in.) and hanging curtains. Part of the redesign included upgrading Maya’s crib to a big girl bed. She was thrilled to death about it… I have never seen her so happy.
In fact when I picked her up from school today the first thing she asked me was “Sleep in big girl bed?”.
She is also starting to go poopie on the potty regularly. Its funny most kids go pee first but she has mastered #2. She gets out of bed and then knocks on her door when she wants to get up.

McKenna and I spent some quality time together this weekend as well. We walked all the way to the far playground together and had a nice talk. She and Carrie went to a baby shower together on Saturday and she seemed to really enjoy the fact that Mommy took just her. She woke up last night with a headache and it had us a bit concerned but Tylenol did the trick and she didn’t complain about it today. She was quite the little monster today after school. I picked the girls up as Carrie had a day out with the girls that lasted beyond 4p. She lost all of her books, had a long time out and was an ants hair away from being spanked for various offenses.

In the Air

I am currently at about 30k feet between Austin and Los Angeles. I am on the first leg of a trip out to see a client and return the same day. The main reason I am doing this is so that the girls can go to school tomorrow. Carrie leaves too early to drive them. Maya has another cold or virus. Her little lungs just have such a tough time dealing with these types of things. She was up all night coughing and kept us up as well. McKenna was up herself making sure her bedroom door remained open all night. It is her latest thing. She likes to fall asleep with the door open. It doesn’t matter too much to us as long as she stays asleep and doesn’t wake us up. She is very good about going potty and going back to bed.
Leaving them today was very difficult with Maya being sick. I have a feeling the school is going to call to have us come pick her up. We shall see. I won’t be home tonight until well after they have gone to sleep.
We have been making plans to go away in May and have Grammy & Pop Pop and Migi care for the girls. It will be the longest time we have ever been away from them. McKenna has been looped in and is very excited about it. She thought at first that all three grandparents were going to be with her the entire time.

Chipmunk Teeth

Last night while we were putting Mayas PJs on we noticed that one of her front teeth has a slight chip. We are not sure how or when it happened. Later McKenna asked me “Why does Maya have Chipmunk teeth?”
McKenna has been fibbing a ton lately. We are going to have to have a talk.

Because Mommy is Dere

Today in the car ride to school McKenna said. I know what I want to be when I grow up. “I want to work at the hospital because Mommy is dere (there). I thought it was really cute. They had a nice time together this past weekend. Carrie took her to “The Princess & The Frog” Disney movie. She really loved it, and came back with chocolate all over her mouth.

We had a small party Saturday night and the girls had a hard time going to sleep. McKenna was up until at least 11 and Maya was up until 9. They were both up bright and early though on Sunday.

I hate to say anything but everyone is finally healthy in the house for once.

Ice Skating

We went ice skating on Saturday. Maya hated it for the most part but McKenna loved it. I got out there for a little but had to get off quickly as Maya wouldn’t stop crying.
The girls were very happy to go back to school this week… I think they were board with being home every day.
Both girls are healthy… knock on wood. Carrie however has been under the weather again.
Here is a video of the ice escapades:

More video to come.
