The weather was warm but not too hot this weekend. We were able to spend a lot of time out doors without much discomfort. Saturday afternoon we spent the majority of the day shopping for more pieces to the kitchen renovation and keeping the girls entertained. Luckily for us Lowes and some sort of Fire department pledge drive going on. There was a fire truck (one of Maya’s favorite words) to climb on as well as snow cones and several other activities. One of which was building a small fire truck with wood and nails. McKenna of course wanted to build one… I asked another father that was sitting there how much of an investment it was to complete the build. He said 15 mins tops. Well 35 mins later McKenna and I had small (crappy) fire truck to take home with us. I think she enjoyed the experience for about 5 mins and I think her favorite part was hitting my hands with the little hammer and having me say “ouch!”.
Yesterday we went to Maddie Cuellar’s birthday pool party. Cake, Ice Cream, Sno Cones(again), and pizza were served. The girls enjoyed all the food and played in the pool most of the morning. When we got home I think they both actually napped. I am not sure if it was due to the exercise or the abundance of sugar.

Nice Weekend
Sick Girls & No Sleep
Both girls have been battling a cold/flu but seem to be shaking it off. However they have been waking up with bouts of coughing. McKenna has been very brave going potty by herself except when she needs to get back to her room. Last night when she got up she was met with another challenge. The workers tripped the fuse in her bathroom that powers her nightlight so it was pitch black in the hallway and she needed some assistance. The tripped fuse also caused the house alarm to go off in the middle of the night making sleep few and far between. Here are some pictures:

Save it in a bottle.
Yesterday Carrie took Maya to the Doctor and I was able to spend some one on one with McKenna. We took Jaxson on a walk and then played on a swing that someone set up on the edge of the woods. She looked so pretty as she was looking over her shoulder at me as I pushed her. The wind was blowing a cool breeze and she told me she loved me. Its moment like that that I know I will remember forever. I wish I could put it in a bottle and save it.
Both girls woke up with a fever this AM and wouldn’t eat. I loaded them up with Motrin and took them to school. I hope they feel better.
Potty in the dark!
We are in a state of disarray as the renovation has moved into the stain and paint stage. The house is full of fumes and we need to leave the windows open when we sleep. We have been blessed with the coolest weather of the year so far which is very fortunate.
This morning while I was in the shower, Mckenna got up and went potty. It is significant as it was very dark and she needed to get her stool and everyting. She didn’t come get me or cry at all. I was so proud!
Tight Day
Yesterday morning McKenna woke up and met Maya and I in the living room. She came with the clothes Carrie and laid out for her the night before. (a new trend the last few days… I guess I haven’t been doing well in the wardrobe dept.) The first thing she said to me was that she was Pinocchio and that she wanted to wear tights and not the leggings Mommy and picked out. It was very important to her judging by her expression and urgency. I quickly texted Carrie to see what it was all about. She responded that it wasn’t a good idea to let her wear tights as it is hard for her to pull them up and down to go tot he bathroom. I told McKenna the same. She didn’t take no for an answer and went to her room and retrieved herself some tights. She proceeded to pepper me with the request until I gave in with the contingency that she proves to me that she can pull them down and up by herself. She actually responded very well and was able to pull them down and up with good success so I told her she could wear them.
Instantly she ran to her shoe basket and put on two brown leather sandals that did not look right with the dress and tights. But it was time to go and I did not have the energy for another battle and Maya decided it was time for her pre-ride to school poo.
Later in the day I received the following text from Carrie, “I guess you lost the tights battle? She looks HIlarious!”
