Our trip back to see family and friends that we hadn’t seen in 5 years was really nice. What it really felt like was that I fast forwarded a story. You picture people to look and act exactly the way you last remembered them but when you see them they have grown up, grown older, matured and changed. Its hard to put it all in words. The girls other than being sick enjoyed meeting all of the new people and experiencing all of the new experiences. The funny thing with them is that things that I thought would impress them… tall buildings, lots of people etc barely seemed to register. Every night they were up past their bedtimes.. and past ours as well. Since we all stayed in the same room essentially the whole time I think there was too much distraction. Maya would frequently stand up and talk with McKenna or call for me using various call signs. Such as Daddy, Donald, Mickey, John and Babe.
We tried to take McKenna to FAO Shwartz a few times with no luck. One of the attempts it was closed and the other she fell asleep in the backpack on the way there… on the subway no less. She was fighting a cold and I think it just wiped her out. We walked though St Patrick’s Cathedral, toured Central Park a few times and visited old favorite restaurants each of them fun in their own way.
