Thursday I took the girls to Zilker Park to break up the monotony. The girls seemed to be getting bored with our normal routine so I took them somewhere a little different. The weather has been gorgeous in the morning so we left after breakfast. We arrived too early to ride the train around the park so we spent the time chasing pigeons,

balancing on walls,

and posing for Daddy.

Can I get in the camera?
The train finally came and we rode it. The girls loved it so much that we went back on Friday. Its actually pretty nice. Daddy likes it too.
Today we went to the library to see Joe McDermitt, a local kids performer. As soon as we got there Maya pooed and I had to take her to the car to change her. McKenna stayed and watched Joe with the Kleemans who were also attending. (Carrie was working overtime).
We took Jax on a walk and then ate dinner outside. (Spagetti)

Today was an ordinary day. We stayed around the house and just played and read books. I wasn’t even going to post anything as I had nothing interesting to say. However 30 minutes ago I had a moment with McKenna that I hope I never forget. Carrie and McKenna went to the gym. They usually shower and get home around 8:30. I heard the garage door open and then pull in to the garage. Jax barked so I got up and walked with him to the door so he wouldn’t continue to bark and wake up Maya. When I got there Carrie was in the laundry room and told me that McKenna wanted me outside. So as I walked out there I noticed that she was pointing at the sky. When I got to her I noticed we were having a spectacular sunset and she wanted to show it to me. She leaned in to me and said isn’t it beautiful Daddy? I told her it was and put my arm around her. Carrie said that on the way home she couldn’t wait to show it to me.
In other news I started the process of creating a book out of the blog so that I would have time to bring it with us when we see Grandmom in a few weeks. I thought it would be easy but it has proven to be pretty intensive. Hopefully I can get it done in time.

On Saturday Carrie and her friends used their Mother’s Day present which was a complete girls day without husbands or kids. They spent the day at a prestigious health spa at a very low rate. The husbands decided we would try and get together with the kids and chose Zilker park as the destination. On our way their I needed to stop and get some gas. While I was pumping McKenna was screaming something from inside the car. I peeped my head and and asked her what was up. She pointed behind me and said “Camel Camel Camel!!” I turned around and sure enough!

So we chose the playground at Zilker at 10:30 which is a huge playground usually with lots of kids… and easy access parking. Unfortunately for me the parking was 3$ a car.. and they were only taking cash (which is pretty rare these days) and I had $0. My option was to drive around the block and park. Ordinarily this was not a big deal but I had no way of transporting the girls effectively. I carried Maya and McKenna walked most of the way… at an extremely slow pace. We were running late so I ended up porting both girls in my arms for the last .25 miles. It seems like I have been doing that too much lately. The funny thing was that the other guys were not there by the time I arrived about 7 minutes late.
The park was packed with kids…. it was pretty difficult to keep track of McKenna and Maya was too little for most of the equipment. So we decided that it was time for lunch at 11. The other guys brought strollers so I was able to place McKenna in one and carry only Maya to the restaurant a block away. Lunch went well.

By the time lunch was over I knew I had to get home to meet Migi who was coming down for the weekend. It was also supposed to storm soon. I walked the girls back to the car. The street we had to walk along was very busy so I carried the girls the majority of the walk. I good workout to be sure. But relief was on the way soon when I got home in the form of Migi. When we got home the girls had a blast playing with Migi the rest of the day. Particularly McKenna as Doctor was the game of choice.

Sunday we all went for a hike in a place called the basin just up on Highway 360. It was a nice hike.

Today was a very active day for the girls. They had a visit from Uncle Kevin, played with chalk in the driveway, played in mommy’s new basket, went to Circle C playground and went with Daddy to the supermarket.
McKenna has been working on a No Nap streak of about a week and it has finally caught up to her. She had a HUGE meltdown before dinner and another HUGE one putting on her PJs. Maya has been napping but she had a few minor meltdowns of her own.
We had baked Ziti for dinner followed by Water Melon. Carrie got home early tonight and helped put the girls to bed. She was present for the second of McKenna’s Meltdowns.
