Today when I got home from work the girls were outside playing with the neighbor’s puppy. McKenna was trying to pick him up and throw dirt on him and Maya would put her head on his back. It is very cute when dogs give the girls the time of day. Jaxson barely sits still long enough for them. I think it is his way of asserting himself.
We have a slight scare right now as there is a potential pandemic on the horizon. The Swine flu has killed over 100 people in Mexico and has infected 40 people here in the states. Lets hope we are able to contain it. Its hard to tell right now if it is hype or the real deal. Maybe it is somewhere in between. Lets just pray that none of us gets sick and that our medical scientists are able to create an antibiotic soon.
Carrie went to get her haircut tonight so I put the girls to bed. There was no incidents and nothing was out of the ordinary. I think they were both tired.

Puppy Play
Sunday Leftovers
Yesterday we took the girls to the Children’s Museum. Every Sunday at 4pm it is free and there are always lots of things for both girls to play with. On the way there we past by a festival that turned out to be the Austin Art Festival… we were surprised as it wasn’t really advertised anywhere during the week. Anyway after we were done with the Children’s museum we headed over to the Art Festival. It was fun with lots of walking. McKenna was nearing her crazy point as she didn’t nap during the day but was still being a good girl at that point. She was pretending that she was a ‘doggie’ and asking us to throw her a ball so she could go fetch it. We obliged many times… she took the game pretty far and actually bent down to pick the ball up with her mouth. Later Carrie took her to a porta john where she discovered one of her hair bands around McKenna’s waist under her clothes. Carrie asked her, “What is this?” McKenna replied matter of factually, “One of your hairbands.”
I left the girls with Carrie for the night to play basketball at the gym and when I got home Carrie looked like she was ready to shoot the girls… they had given her a run for her money. I didn’t get all the details but McKenna was sent to bed without a book and Maya had peed on the rug.
Tonight we had broccoli and pork chops for dinner. For desert we had some blackberries. Maya decided she would try her food on. She has really been talking A LOT and repeats everything she can. She and McKenna have been playing more frequently and I often find them wrestling in the other room or talking to each other.
- Head of Food
McKenna took a few of the above. She is pretty good!
Weiners & More Dancing
Saturday we went to Buda Texas for the Wiener Dog Festival.
Some friends of ours, the Kleemans and the Ruxars joined us.
The dog races were ok but the amusments were what entertained everyone as you will notice from the video below. The footage isn’t the best but it captures everything we did. We tried to eat lunch there but the food was pretty gross.
Later in the day we went to Dave Cuellar’s birthday party at the Oasis, a place know for its spectacular sunsets and awful food. The girls once again had the opportunity to dance to the music. I only had my phone and at one point Maya reached out for McKenna to grab her hands to dance. McKenna danced with her for about a minute before letting go. It was a nice gesture by her and I raced to get my phone to capture it. The picture is blurry but worth posting.

McKenna & Maya Dancing
Fionna (Michelle & John Kleeman’s daughter) danced with McKenna as well.

We took an early Sunday hike with the family. The girls enjoyed the ride.

Pudding and Balance
Maya has really been saying lots of words lately. Last night she said orange. “Oraanch”. I think it is just a matter of time before she puts together phrases.
Carrie took the girls to the playground when we got home. McKenna has become very sure of herself and was able to walk most of the balance beam.

Balance
After dinner I gave McKenna some chocolate pudding as a treat. She hated it for sure.

Licking the Bowl Clean
Car Wash
When I got home from work today. Carrie had employed two car washers from the neighborhood. I think they were just learning the trade.
