Yesterday was a short day for me and I came home early and relieved Carrie so that she could do more shopping. The girls and I had a nice time. We played with the collapsible tunnel, read books and played hide and seek. McKenna still hasn’t gotten the full concept but it was fun never the less.
After dinner I promised McKenna that we would make cookies. I had bought a roll of ginger bread dough about a month ago thinking it would be something fun to do. I asked Carrie after dinner if she curiously decided that she would rather get Maya ready for bed. It would be come very clear whyshe chose this direction. The minute I put flour down on the cutting board became a playscape for McKenna…. she instantly had it all over her face and hands. She was putting the flour in her mouth like it was the cookies themselves. She used the cookie cutters well and was a good help at that stage. The fun truely began when we started using the sprinkels. Oh boy what a mess. So messy that I couldn’t even get a camera before I had to clean her up. Her lips and hands were sugar coated and will probably still be pink when she wakes up today.
Carrie’s decision was wise at the time but did not have it any easier has Maya had a huuuuuge poo that her diaper couldn’t contain. She walked up to see what McKenna and I were doing prior to Carrie changing her when I first noticed the stain and of course the foul eminations. We were thankfull it was trash day that is for certain.
McKenna didn’t need to have a sample of the fruits of her labor last night and will try them tonight.
Saturday we took McKenna to the Nutcracker while Misty took care of Maya during her nap. She seemed to enjoy being in her dress and having Mommy and Daddy all to herself than the Ballet itself. The show was on the lame side. I am not any thing close to an expert on ballet but if it wasn’t for the set design and the music it would have been a real stinker. It was a beautiful day and the venue was the newly redesigned Long Center. Here are a few photos:
Last night we went to the annual Trail of Lights display at Zilker Park. It is a very Christmasy display but it felt odd because it was about 73 degrees. We were all in short sleeves. That didn’t stop McKenna and Carrie from having hot chocolate:
Hot Chocolate
It was better than last year when it was under 40 degrees and windy.
Maya had a huge poo that we needed to change before we came home that was dripping down her leg.. and gross. I had no idea when she did it and I was carrying her around in the backpack all night.
The girls had a blast and were pretty tired when we got home around 8:15 or so.
Here are some more photos:

We went with our friends Kevin and Allison and their son Nash. We got their about 45 minutes before they arrived and the girls spent that time running around in the dark.
Tonight for dinner we had a Korean dish that surprisingly both girls ate. We made the mistake of keeping the Gingerbread house on the table while we ate. McKenna continuously asked to smell it…. After dinner Mckenna decided to help with the dishes.
We took a walk after dinner to see some Christmas lights. Both girls loved it and we plan on taking them to the Trail of Lights in Zilker Park tomorrow evening.
So McKenna has been calling me Frosty and herself Sally. So I let her watch Frosty the Snowman last night after I put Maya down.(Carrie was at the gym). Suprisingly she wasn’t that thrilled with it but she insisted that I wear a hat this morning and act like frosty.
Maya has been so funny she makes all the grunts I do when I pick her up. She also now has the fish tank in her crib and turns it on and off herself. She also makes fish kisses at it.
Maya is still fighting a cold but doesn’t seem to mind it at all.
