We carved another pumpking tonight after dinner McKenna had a blast and Maya helped too. Afterwards Carrie and McKenna made Halloween cookies. Pictures below. Also McKenna got undressed all by herself save the following addition, followed by her singing “happy birthday too me”.
McKenna was in a great mood all day and very cooperative and loving. Maya was whiny and clingy and wouldn’t let us put her down. You can see her two front teeth coming in so that must be why she is irratiable. Her appetite was huge today though.
Phillies won their first World Series in 28 Years. I was just 10 years old at the time.
Tonight after dinner McKenna and I carved the first of two pumpkins. She was a little scared at first (of the pumpkin face we made) but warmed up after I gave him a voice.
Both girls slept in this morning Maya until 7 and McKenna to almost 8. I think they are just prepping for next week when we turn the clocks back.
Carrie took the girls to Zilker park after work to run and then to the playground there.
When McKenna went to bed she coersed Carrie into giving her a drink of water by saying, “I am so thirsty may I please just have a liiiiiiiiiitle tiny sip of water? Please just a liiiiiilte tiny sip?” I think you had to hear it but Carrie had to go get the water so she wouldn’t laugh.
Carrie’s Dad and her half sister came for a visit today while I was at work. Aparently it was a nice visit and everyone had a good time. They went Salt Lick BBQ for lunch.
When I got home Carrie was at her wits end though. The girls post visit we very challenging…. so much in fact that I was unable to get any stories out of her. Maya cried ALL day and didn’t want to eat anything.. we think it was her teeth. No nap for McKenna at all… and she didn’t listen at all.
Three is by far the most challenging age so far. McKenna is really testing our patience at times. It is mixed in with really nice fun moments but she can just be very difficult. Tonight when I put her to bed… she insited that she climb up from the back. I told her no but she ran over and did it anyway. She started to go over and do it again and I ask her not to again. I went hang up her towel and returned just as she was attempting to scale the back of the bed… she of course fell backwards… I caught her before she landed on the floor. She burst in to a crying fit but I explained to her that that is why I asked her not to do it… Lesson learned? Somehow I doubt it…
This past weekend we went to a resort in Bastrop Texas called Lost Pines. It is a really expensive place… probably not worth what we spent but we had a really nice time. We were joined by our friends the Kleeman’s and the Cuellars and all of their children. Carrie had a spa treatment and I played a round of golf. We had a suite for us and the girls. Both girls were in a pack and play and actually slept pretty well considering. We actually had Maya in a large closet and McKenna in the bedroom with us. Here are some pictures:

Here is a picture of Maya sitting at the table in the room having a little breakfast:

Carrie will be posting the rest of some really great photos from the trip on Snapfish and sending a link around this week.
As I write this Maya sounds like she is doing renovation in her room. Her latest thing is to kick the crib when she wants to get up. At least it is not crying.
Last night at dinner Maya was cradling her milk cup like it was a baby and rocking it. She was looking at Carrie and saying ” Aww Babeeeee”. So we asked her if it was her baby etc? Eventually she did the usual and dropped her cup/baby on the floor. McKenna said, “You dropped your baby.” It was a good laugh. Maya probably picked it up from McKenna who frequently has a baby doll or a stuffed animal and does the same thing. Which is cute as well.
McKenna also has been really good about getting herself undressed before getting in the tub. She will frequently disappear back into her room and come out completely naked except for her hair clip. Last night she came out and asked, ” Can I toot?” I replied “Do you need to go Potty?” McKenna relied,” I just tooted do you want to smell it?”
Maya is walking. She just decided to start yesterday unprompted. She isn’t doing it all the time but is starting to feel confident.
I think both girls really enjoy Misty (their nanny). They seem happy when she arrives and sad when she leaves.
On another note… Jax has been acting really inconsistant. Yesterday he jumped through the screen while Carrie and the girls were out. Carrie found him at the back door. We don’t know why he didn’t want to come back in through the window.
