Maya and her Allergies

Maya woke up this morning looking like prize fighter.  Her right eye was nearly swollen shut.  We had chicken pot pie last night and none of the ingrediants had any mention of things she is allergic to.  Then I was feeding her oatmeal this AM and her little chin got all hivey.  She has had the oatmeal before so I am not sure what the deal is.

McKenna has been a little distant from me lately not sure what is going on… she doesn’t really engage me in conversation I think it is just a stage.  Sunday in the car Carrie and I were bickering over something and McKenna said,” Stop Mommy, Stop Dadddy”.  So we stopped.

Carrie is having her book club at our house on Wed night so I will be taking the girls out to dinner and then we will play in McKenna’s room so we don’t disturb before going to sleep.

Saturday Fun

Today we went to a ‘Pioneer’ Festival out in Dripping Springs, Tx.  It was a nice little fair.  Music, BBQ , Petting zoo and Art tents.

Prior to that we took Jaxson on a walk in the woods.  McKenna walked nearly the entire time and Maya loves the backpack ride.  Jaxson of course always loves a good walk.

Then we finished up the day after nap and went to a coffee shop called Ruta Maya.  They play a bunch of music tailored to kids.  The girls had A…..BLAST.  Witness the video evidence and pictures below.

Needless to say the day was filled with activity and the results were as follows:

BaaaabE. BaBE. BABE.

With out a doubt Baby is Maya’s first word.  She says it constantly and knows what it means.  She is tickled with herself about it too.  She has really focused on talking and I think walking is on the back burner for now.  When I come in to the room she immediatly points at something for me to identify.  McKenna used to do the same thing.  McKenna actually woud say, “Dat” when she pointed.

McKenna had a fever this AM and was a little sluggish but her mood was good.  She fell face first into jaxsons food bin and bruised her gum above her front teeth.  Lots of tears.

The girls went to the pool when Carrie got home from work yesterday.  They were coming home just as I pulled in.  They all looked so cute.  I wish I was there to join them.  It isn’t likely that we will be able to go to the pool before it closes this year.

Jaxson Back

Yesterday was crazy due to Jaxson getting lost in the greenbelt.  I spent 4.5 hours combing the woods looking for him.  As it turns out he was at somebody’s house most of the morning.  We didn’t find out all of the details so I guess we will never know how he got there.  At least he is home safe.

McKenna is back to eating a ton.  She went on a pretty light diet for about 2 weeks and now she is back to asking for seconds and thirds.

Maya woke us up at 4:15 this AM.  I really think her teeth are coming in as she is drooling a bunch.

Nice Weekend

This weekend was what the family needed.  Lots of quality time together.

Saturday I took McKenna for a bike ride.  She had me sing her songs the entire time. Bruce Springsteen songs…”Waitin on a Sunny Day” and Bob Schneider’s “Captian Kirk” among them.  The funny thing is that if we passed something that she was interested in.. she would say… “What was that Bruce?”.  Very funny!  The chain fell off while were were riding up a hill.  I had to get her off the bike while I fixed it.  She stood there very patiently and waited.  We really had a nice time.

Later in the day we went to a birthday party for girl just about McKenna’s age.  They had a moonwalk/bouncy house.  Along with lots of cake, ice cream and pizza.  Both girls had a grand time.  Maya played with wind chimes and balloons.  While McKenna ran around non stop with all of the other kids her age.  She is really starting to interact like a little girl.  She plays little games and stories with other kids… its a blast to watch her.  Both girls were sweaty and exhausted when we left the party and were almost falling asleep in the car ride home.  It was only 5:30!!

Sunday we went for a walk in the woods.  Maya was in the backpack on my back while McKenna alternated walking with riding on Carrie’s back.

Later in the day Carrie took McKenna to a kids ballet.  SHE LOOOOVED it.  Not surprised one bit.  She wanted to wear her ballet shoes and a dress.

Maya spent lots of quality time with me… we had fun interacting all day together.  Its very rare that she and I get to spend uninterrupted one on one time.  She is such a loving and affectionate little girl.

I love my family.
