Yesterday Maya turned 1 Year old. The speed in which this year has flown by is amazing to me. It feels like last week when we first brought her home.
We had her party today and she had a great time. We had a small party about 17 people including ourselves. McKenna enjoyed it as much… in fact more than Maya. Grammy and Pop Pop couldn’t make it this year because of the cost of flights…. they are also coming down in a few weeks to watch the girls when we go to Mexico. Carrie and Rhonda made an eggless cake for Maya. It was pretty tasty. We served burgers, fruit salad, spinach salad and bean salad. Here are some photos. Maya did not like her birthday hat:
I don’t like my hat.

Maya's Cake

Are you sure I can just eat this??

So.. why haven't I had this stuff before.
Yesterday we went to the Texas game’s tailgate.
McKenna had a GREAT time and ate a ton of food. Maya enjoyed herself as well.
Here are some photos of that.

Well Maya slept ok last night… she did wake up right before we went to sleep but that doesn’t count. McKenna fell out of bed around 12:30. She was ok and wasn’t crying when I got in there and she quickly went back to sleep.
Maya had another allergic reaction that required Benedryl yesterday. This time it was hummus. So I think we are going to stay away from beans for a while… Green Beans and Peas are ok and edamame has been fine.
I gave the girls crepes with raspberry and bannana. I can’t take credit for the crepes as Carrie made them this weekend. They both ate them all up. I also gave McKenna a veggie sausage pattie that she downed as well.
McKenna was very difficult yesterday. She is testing us every chance she gets. Last night in particular she deliberatly peed on the couch. Carrie was less than pleased as it was right before bedtime… it delayed the whole process. It is amazing how long it takes us to get them to bed every night… it is truely a joint effort. It is usually and hour or an hour and a half.
Maya didn’t want to walk this AM.

Maya waited for the alarm again this morning. We feel refreshed… sort of.
Maya had oatmeal with apples for breakfast. I made McKenna a special French Toast with Pumkin spice and a little brown sugar. She wasn’t crazy about it. Most of Maya’s oatmeal fed Jaxson as well.
I have Misty coming early for a little while so that I can try to get home a little earlier at night… very busy at work.

Maya slept until after our alarm went off this morning. Haaaalleuua! However someone called Carrie’s phone in the middle of the night… wrong number or something and woke us up. Not the girls though.
I got Maya to take a bunch more steps on her own today. It is so great as she finishes her walk/tumble with a hug. She seems very tickeled with herself. She also thinks headbutts are how to give kisses. She misses me but nails Carrie all the time. I watched her headbutt her stuffed animal today. I said to her,” Are you giving kisses Maya?” McKenna piped in, “Awww thats sweet of you Maya” I laughed out loud.
I played America from West Side Story for McKenna this morning… she was mesmerized…. and was singing it when I left for work.
We have had a roach invasion the last few days. The are freaking Carrie out completely…. making her crazy. The pest guys have been out a few times and it hasn’t stopped them. Its probably due to all of the damp weather we have had recently. They are pretty big. I am going to treat the house with Boric acid this weekend.
I gave Maya some raspberries for breakfast. No reaction. She is pretty good with most fruit right now.

Once again Maya decided our wake up time. There was no sleeping through it. Carrie and I both went in to try and soothe her back to sleep to no avail. We ended up bringing her into our room so we could get that half sleep in between kicks to the back or abdomen. Fun times.
Carrie took the girls to the Zilker park fountains to day to meet with Heather and Maddie. Sounds like they had a good time.
McKenna has really been good at entertaining herself lately and has been making up songs and singing them to us.
I am already looking forward to the weekend with them.
