McKenna wakes up in the same mood as her mommy every day. Grumpy, grumpy, grumpy. Maya is usally grumpy as well and that leaves Jaxson and I to fend for ourselves. Jaxson usually sleeps in. I had not seen the girls for over 24 hours this morning as I traveled out early before they woke and returned long after they went to bed. Maya was happy to see me tonight I think but McKenna seemed a little angry with me.
Its mommies turn however as she is working the 11a to 7pm and then on call from 7 to 11p. We had a nice dinner and so far everyone has stayed asleep.
Grumpy Morning
Spoke too soon.
McKenna is sick again and I needed to leave work early to come home and allow Uncle Kevin to go to work after covering the morning. She has been feverish and congested. Maya seems to be ok so far. McKenna hated to miss school but she isn’t getting better. Carrie is going to take her to the dr tomorrow.
Finally Healthy Again?
So the girls appear to be getting healthy again. Both of them are back at school. Friday Maya was scared of the Thunderstorm. Carrie work up for work and went in to soothe her. Since Carrie had to leave for work she brought Maya in to me… I was still half asleep so Maya got to snuggle with Daddy for a while…BIG MISTAKE. Friday night when we went to put her to bed she wailed and screamed “Sleep in Daddy’s Bed!”.
Saturday night we had to move Maya out of her room due to the redesign. We decided to see if the girls could spend the night in the same room… FAIL. They were up until nearly 11pm and we eventually needed to relocate Maya to the office in her pack and play. The good news is her room is nearly ready for her to return.
Big Girl Bed
It turned out that Maya had walking Pneumonia last week. I had to stay home with her on Friday and work from home. She was thrilled and other than the occasional cough you wouldn’t have known she was in such bad shape. By Monday she was well enough to return to school.
This weekend we started the process of re-doing Maya’s room. We will be painting it again (this will be the fourth time I have painted this room since we moved in.) and hanging curtains. Part of the redesign included upgrading Maya’s crib to a big girl bed. She was thrilled to death about it… I have never seen her so happy.
In fact when I picked her up from school today the first thing she asked me was “Sleep in big girl bed?”.
She is also starting to go poopie on the potty regularly. Its funny most kids go pee first but she has mastered #2. She gets out of bed and then knocks on her door when she wants to get up.
McKenna and I spent some quality time together this weekend as well. We walked all the way to the far playground together and had a nice talk. She and Carrie went to a baby shower together on Saturday and she seemed to really enjoy the fact that Mommy took just her. She woke up last night with a headache and it had us a bit concerned but Tylenol did the trick and she didn’t complain about it today. She was quite the little monster today after school. I picked the girls up as Carrie had a day out with the girls that lasted beyond 4p. She lost all of her books, had a long time out and was an ants hair away from being spanked for various offenses.
In the Air
I am currently at about 30k feet between Austin and Los Angeles. I am on the first leg of a trip out to see a client and return the same day. The main reason I am doing this is so that the girls can go to school tomorrow. Carrie leaves too early to drive them. Maya has another cold or virus. Her little lungs just have such a tough time dealing with these types of things. She was up all night coughing and kept us up as well. McKenna was up herself making sure her bedroom door remained open all night. It is her latest thing. She likes to fall asleep with the door open. It doesn’t matter too much to us as long as she stays asleep and doesn’t wake us up. She is very good about going potty and going back to bed.
Leaving them today was very difficult with Maya being sick. I have a feeling the school is going to call to have us come pick her up. We shall see. I won’t be home tonight until well after they have gone to sleep.
We have been making plans to go away in May and have Grammy & Pop Pop and Migi care for the girls. It will be the longest time we have ever been away from them. McKenna has been looped in and is very excited about it. She thought at first that all three grandparents were going to be with her the entire time.
